The mission of the ISRC is to assist non-native English-speaking students with English language usage, U.S. academic expectations and cultural knowledge to successfully and confidently complete academic assignments in EMU classes. ISRC tutors assist students with English usage for papers, accent reduction for presentations, academic vocabulary for reading assignments, cultural thought patterns and organizational patterns in text materials, etc.
All international students are welcome in the ISRC. Many students benefit from one or two visits in their first semester as they acclimate to EMU and to studying in the U.S. Other students benefit from weekly appointments to assist with U.S. academic expectations and conventions. Faculty are welcome to refer students to the ISRC, and students are welcome to make appointments with or without a referral.
The ISRC is located in 316 King Hall.
