EMU UP: University Prepared

Aligned to EMU’s strategic plan, this FDC experience consisted of a one-day workshop that provided an opportunity for faculty participants to learn about the new and innovative 2+2 Early Childhood Education, a fully online community-based undergraduate teacher preparation program.  We focused on program proposal process, which can be applied and tailored to various disciplines across Eastern Michigan University. Participants explored aspects of the 2+2 program proposal development and follow a supportive project guide to support faculty in developing new and innovative program initiatives that can lead to a proposal from their own departments.

This program, facilitated by Dr. Christina Mirtes, Associate Professor of Teacher Education, and Dr. Jessica Grimone-Hopkins, Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, was open to all full-time faculty and full-time lecturers who were interested in learning about and creating innovative discipline-specific program development initiatives designed to meet the modern student's needs, help address low enrollment, and support current workforce demands.  We were joined at this program by Dr. Steve Pernecky, Interim Associate Provost and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Christine Knaggs, EMU’s Director of Online & Strategic Initiatives, who worked with participants and shared their ideas regarding online and graduate programs
