Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Research Groups 2016-2017
Register HERE for the Winter 2017 Group
Your classroom is a research laboratory for teaching and learning. Why not get a scholarly publication out of your findings? The Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) Research Groups is an opportunity for EMU faculty and full-time and part-time lecturers to support each other in advancing SoTL research projects. We offer four different collaborative groups during the 2016-17 academic year led by a experienced EMU faculty facilitator.
Group 1: New to SoTL Research (for anyone new to SoTL research - led by Zuzana Tomas)
Group 2: SoTL in STEM Courses (led by Amy Johnson and Katherine Ryker)
Group 3: Your Classroom is a Publication (get your article published - led by Cynthia Gabriel)
Group 4: Students as Researchers and Life-Long Learners (WI 2017 only - led by Suzanne Gray)
Each participant will receive a copy of the book – Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: A Guide to the Process, and How to Develop a Project from Start to Finish, by Cathy Bishop-Clark and Beth Dietz-Uhler.
Members meet about every two or three weeks to report on progress toward their SoTL process and get feedback and support as needed. Meetings times are arranged to accommodate participants schedules. The groups will meet throughout the academic year and participants can opt-in to be involved in the Fall semester, Winter semester, or both semesters (except Group 4 that meets only during the Winter 2017 term).
There will be a celebration lunch and gathering at the CONNECT Event on February 10th, 2017 for all collaborative participants to share their progress and discuss SoTL strategies that are working.
