Julaine LeDuc

Julaine LeDucGive us a brief overview of yourself and your job title:

Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences- for the second time! I was here about 5 years ago and then was at Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor, an organization I have worked with since college, as their Director of Development. I am thrilled to be back at EMU to support the students and programs of the College!

I'm married, with three grown kids and three grandchildren, one dog, and two grand dogs. My youngest daughter is getting married on Oct. 1!

Why did you come back to work for Eastern Michigan University Foundation?

I loved the mission of RMHCAA, and my colleagues, but I felt I accomplished what I needed to do there. I really missed the opportunities, the donors and colleagues, and working to improve student's experience and the work of the Foundation. I was very excited to hear of the opportunity at CAS, and I'm very glad to be back!

How has your work/life changed now that you are starting a new job remotely

It was difficult to get used to at first, especially when all meetings and donor "visits" were on zoom... that was hard. I can be very productive at home with fewer distractions, so I like the opportunity to work both at home and in the office, depending on meetings and appointments. And I am so glad to see folks face to face again.

What is your favorite part about your job?

Working with people who are passionate and committed to student success- both my colleagues and the donors who generously support the work here at EMU.

Can you share a little bit about your "day in the life"?

Well, my guilty secret is that the first thing I do in the morning is to have a cup of coffee and play a word game or two to wake my mind up! My office is in Mark Jefferson, where I usually work Tuesdays through Thursdays, depending on meetings. If I don't have on-campus meetings on Mondays and Fridays, I'm in my home office. While I remember some things about the College of Arts & Sciences and how to get around campus, these first few weeks, I'm meeting with Department and School Heads to get back up to speed and setting up donor meeting.
