Before You Apply Online
Thank you for considering applying to the Graduate School at Eastern Michigan University.
The next step is to apply for admission to EMU. When you leave this page, select “First time user account creation.”
Once there, you will be asked to create a login ID and a PIN. Choose any name you wish, but your PIN must be six digits long.
Select application type 1, Graduate Program, if you are applying for a graduate program.
Select application type 2, Graduate Non Degree, if you are applying as a non-degree student.
You will then be asked to select a term and for your personal contact information, and then to complete an application.
You will be asked to submit a concise but well-written personal statement about your reasons for wanting to attend the Graduate School for your specific program. It would be a good idea to write it in a word processor, then copy and paste it into the submission box. Keep in mind that program faculty will be reading your statement to make an admission recommendation.
There may be other requirements for entry into your particular program; for example, letters of reference are often required. Review our Degrees and Programs section to review the required documents.

Follow the progress of your submitted application:
If you have already submitted your application, you will be able to follow its progress through the Graduate Admissions review system. Each time you login to your portal using your Login ID and PIN, you will find a brief admissions progress Display Code. A full explanation of the meaning of each Display Code can be found here.
