Homecoming Court

Do you have what it takes to represent Eastern Michigan University as part of our Homecoming Court? As a member of Homecoming Court, you will serve as a role model to our campus community. In addition to a chance at being crowned Royal at the Homecoming Halftime Show, court members recieve special access to all of the Homecoming events, free apparel, and professional headshots! 

 

This year our nomination form includes the opportunity to nominate someone else! Check out all the details and guidelines below and/or attend one of our virtual interest nights on Sept. 13 & 14 @ 7pm (Virtual Link).

In order to serve on to 2022 Homecoming Court, candidates must meet the following qualifications: 

  • Candidates must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher at EMU. 
  • Candidates must be in good conduct status with the University. 

 

As part of their role on the Homecoming Court, students will be asked to attend meetings and participate in some of the week's activities: 

  • Court Announcement & Kick-Off Meeting (Sept. 23th at 7pm, virtual).
  • Court Photoshoot (Sep. 25tth, time TBD).
  • Events & Activities happening every day of the week (varies).
  • A group community service project (TBD). 
  • Promotion tables and initiatives to encourage student participation and voting (varies).
  • Pre-Game Pep Rally and Half-Time Show (Oct. 1 starting at 12:30pm).

The nomination form was designed to allow nominators to showcase the many things their nominee does on campus and give the selection committee enough information to be able to discern which candidates will serve as the 2022 EMU Homecoming Court. 

  • Self-nomination should take roughly 20 minutes to complete.
  • Nominating others should take about 5 minutes, nominees will be asked to finish the rest of the form. 
  • Nominations are due on Monday, Sep. 19th at 5:00 pm (after which the form will no longer be available). 

Selection of the two Royals from the Homecoming Court will be determined based on the scores from the Selection Committee, a point value for GPA, and finally a point value based on the percentage of the Student Votes.

Application & Nomination 

To complete the nomination, you must be a registered student. Nominations will only be considered if the nominee meets all of the qualifications listed above. The Homecoming Court nomination must be fully completed by Monday, September 19th at 5pm. No exceptions can be made. Those who were nominated by others must complete their portion of the form by that deadline to be considered. No late applications will be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered. 

 

Candidate Scoring (for court and royalty selection)

Academic Success 

G.P.A. is translated into points by multiplying it by 5 - with scores ranging from 12.5 and 20 points. 

Engagement Profile 

Scored individually by the committee based on quantity and quality of engagements ranging from 1-10 points. 

Reflection Prompts 

2 points awarded per question, with 5 questions for a maximum of 10 points. 1 for partial or base level responses and 2 for full, well-rounded answers.

Student Vote 

Points will be divided based on percentage of total student votes earned with 1st place receiving 20 points and all other candidates receiving the percentage of points relative to first place based on the number of votes they received. Example 1st place earns 500 votes = 20 points, 2nd place earns 400 votes = 16 points.

Total Possible Points = 70 

The top two scoring candidates will be crowned Royalty with the presentation of the court and announcement of the winners occurring during the half-time show of the Homecoming Football Game on Oct. 1st.
