Professional Summary

My career spans K-12 and university teaching and administration. I have special interest working with students who have overcome challenges in many forms as they move to academic success. I have particular interest in literacy education and how that supports all sorts of life-long learning, and I feel a strong affiliation with first generation college students, students who are helping to pay for their own college education, and returning students. Currently, I serve on the Executive Committee for the National Council of Teachers of English and as the Chair for the Conference on English Leadership.
