Biography
Aliyah was recently hired as a graduate assistant for Student Success and Engagement at the Honors College here at Eastern Michigan University. From the Ypsilanti, Michigan area, Aliyah graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Language, Literature, and Writing. Before pursuing graduate studies, Aliyah was a high school English teacher. Even though she enjoyed teaching, she knew she wanted to work in student affairs. Inspired by the academic program, Aliyah applied for the Master of Educational Leadership HESA program. Aliyah started her first semester in the Higher Education Student Affairs program this fall and hopes to graduate by the end of 2025 with an Academic Advising Certificate. In her free time, you can find her helping her family at her family coffee shop Socotra Coffee House, and trying out new restaurants in the area!
