SPGN 251 Introduction to Inclusion and Disability Studies in a Diverse Society

Course Description: This introductory survey course provides a framework for understanding how legislative and social changes in the U.S. have modified the ways in which diversity issues related to student learning characteristics have impacted equity in education. This course includes the historical, philosophical and organizational factors leading to the enactment of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations governing special education. Characteristics, educational considerations and implications of all areas of exceptionality are addressed.
