Looking Forward to The Honors College Orientation
The Honors College Orientation for first-year students is on August 5th, 2017! See you there!
Please RSVP for The Honors College Orientation.
The Honors College Orientation has many exciting aspects for your first experience as an Honors student. Orientation is an engaging and interesting event designed to introduce you to your future classmates.
Current Honors students will also be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and help welcome you to our community.
At The Honors College Orientation, you will be introduced to the Common Read. We will read this book and discuss a topic and theme specific to the year. Please read it and be prepared to discuss it at The Honors College Common Read Discussion on September 6th in 201 Pray-Harrold.
The discussion will be led by Dr. Ramona Caponegro from the Department of English Language and Literature. You will be fulfilling part of one of the Honors graduation requirements by attending this session as a first-year student.
This year's read is:Brown Girl Dreaming
by Jacqueline Woodson.
If you would like to purchase the book at The Honors College Orientation, it will be on sale at the EMU bookstore for your convenience. We also encourage you to check your local library. Any ISBN number is acceptable.
"I Chose The Honors College Because..." Sign Campaign
You will have the opportunity to be photographed with an "I Chose The Honors College Because..." sign!
Write your reason for choosing to join the EMU Honors community. We will be posting these pictures to our social media pages after the event. We will also save the pictures to share with you when you graduate from The Honors College. Our graduates love seeing where their college journeys began, and we want to help you remember this really important day in your college career!
Begin considering what you will write on the sign before you come. We look forward to reading your message!

We will be selling blankets, sweatshirts, and t-shirts at Orientation for you and your family. Items for sale at Orientation will vary between $15 and $30. We accept cash or check.
