On Campus 

CAPS- Counseling and Psychological Services  

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of students at Eastern Michigan University.  Our caring staff provides free counseling using a short-term model.  Medication management with our staff psychiatrist is also available for a fee. 

CAPS also serves the EMU community by providing educational workshops, outreaches, consultation to faculty and staff, and training to graduate students in the mental health professions.

 They are located in 313 Snow Health Center.  


Counseling Clinic (COE)

The Counseling Clinic within the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) offers personal and family mental health counseling as well as career assessment and academic counseling that taps into your potential and builds upon your strengths and the strengths of your support systems. Services are provided to individuals, couples, families and children.


The Wellness Center

Our Mission: We provide holistic programs and services that promote individual wellness to the Eastern Michigan Community.

Our Vision: We will be recognized by the university community for our innovative approaches to student wellness.

The Wellness Center is located on the First Floor of Snow Health Center on the main campus of Eastern Michigan University. We currently offer a variety of programs and services. 


SAFEnow Suicide Prevention  

The mission of EMU SAFE Now is to decrease the negative stigma on our campus that surrounds talking about suicide and other mental health issues. 

Eastern Michigan University was awarded a suicide prevention and mental health promotion grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in October 2014. The grant’s goals are to help prevent suicide, eliminate stigma related to mental illness and promote help seeking behaviors in students. The grant is housed in the Student Well-Being Office in the Snow Health Center under the direction of Ellen Gold, Assistant Vice President of Student Well-Being and Lisa Lauterbach, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services.
