Policy Changes/Updates

Before you apply, please make sure to note the following changes to our policies regarding Family Housing and pet cats in Cornell Courts. Starting Fall 2023, Family Housing and the pet cat policy will be discontinued. Disability Resource Center approved Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) will still be allowed when submitted and approved by the posted deadlines.

We have also clarified our Apartments eligibility language: To be eligible for any of our apartment options for the 2023–2024 academic year, students must reach the age of 20 by 12/31/2023 and have attempted and passed at least 55 credit hours at the time of application.

Housing Application Basics

  • $150 Housing Prepayment Expand dropdown

All students, regardless of scholarship/financial aid status, are required to submit a $150 non-refundable prepayment at the start of the housing application. This prepayment cannot be waived or charged to the student account.

The prepayment is non-refundable. Regardless of reasoning, this payment will not be refunded.

Online prepayment via the housing application gives students instant access to proceed. The housing application accepts credit cards and debit cards provided they also function as a credit card. The system will not accept debit only cards or prepaid credit cards.

If you choose to mail your prepayment, you MUST follow the directions listed within the housing application. Mailed prepayments will take significant time to process and will cause a delay in your ability to proceed with the application.

  • Housing & Dining Contract Expand dropdown
Students will work through an electronic version of the housing and dining contract before signing the document within the application.
  • Answer Matching Questions Expand dropdown
The application contains roommate/suite-mate matching questions. Answer these questions as honestly as possible, and do not let others fill out the answers on your behalf.
  • Write a Personal Description Expand dropdown

All students are required to write a short personal description.

Things To Include: If you are interested in a specific Living-Learning/Theme Community, please indicate that here.

Include your likes and dislikes, interests, hobbies, or anything that you would want potential roommates to know about you.

500 Character Limit: We recommend writing your description in a word processing document to track your character count (which is 500 characters including spaces). You can then cut/paste what you write into the text box.

  • Pick Your Meal Plan  Expand dropdown

Meal plans are the primary way that students pay for food and beverages while on campus. Our meal plans are comprised of meal swipes and Flex dollars, all of which are loaded onto your Eagle ID card.

Upperclass residents select meal plans based on where they reside. Meal plans are required in the residence halls and are not required in the Village, Brown, Munson, Cornell, or 601.

  • Review Assignment Information Expand dropdown

Students will complete the application process when they reach The Assignment Information page. This page serves as a confirmation page for meal plan selections and room reservations details. In August, you will return to this section of the application and continue through the Move-In Items section.

Eligibility & Availability

  • University Apartment Eligibility & Availability Expand dropdown

To be eligible for any of our apartment options for the 2023–2024 academic year, students must reach the age of 20 by 12/31/2023 and have attempted and passed at least 55 credit hours at the time of application.

Our apartment options sell-out very fast (about 8 hours!). If you are interested in an apartment, you MUST apply and submit your prepayment during the priority phase for a chance of securing an apartment.

Once apartments are sold-out, we maintain a wait-list for serious applicants only. Students must have an active application AND prepayment on file in order to be placed on the wait-list. You can email us at [email protected] to inquire about the waitlist.

Students need to be flexible and understand that the majority of our cancellations come in during the month of August.

We highly recommend that students who are unable to select a space in apartments pick an alternative space on campus so that they have housing secured; we can switch assignments later if/when a space becomes available.

  • Village Residence Hall Availability Expand dropdown

Once spaces in the Village are sold-out, we maintain a wait-list for serious applicants only. Students must have an active application AND prepayment on file in order to be placed on the wait-list. You can email us at [email protected] to inquire about the waitlist.
