Why You Like Working Here

The students are great. I like helping them. I also enjoy that my department feels like a big family. It’s a special place.

Favorite EMU Moment

I received the 2017 Distinguished Achievement Recognition Award for Community Engagement and Service. I was so surprised! I didn’t expect it at all. Some professors had told me they put me in for the award, but I thought they were kidding.

Favorite Campus Spot

It’s actually right here in my office. I feel at home here as I've been in this office for about 14 years. I enjoy looking at the items on my wall and bookcase I've been given from around the world. Sometimes international students come in my office and smile as they see something from their homeland.

I enjoy the students. They are like the children I was unable to have or adopt. I feel God had a plan and I am where I'm supposed to be.

I'd love to be able to provide for all the students to go to school for free. Students come out with debt that  they’re paying for a long time. I hate to see that.

Next Goal

Retirement! I plan on traveling around the U.S. We want to see the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We’ve never been up that far. We’ve only been up to Mackinac.
