Why You Like Working Here

I especially like the diversity and the location of the University. In addition, I also like the students, the staff and the community. It makes it easy to come to work.

Favorite Campus Spot

My favorite spot would be McKenny Hall because that’s where I initially started seeing our ECA students and staff intertwine. I also love the student center because of the student interactions that occur there.

Motivation

I am motivated to see our students graduate. It’s always easy to come to work and do the job, but I’m inspired by wanting to see future students grow, learn, graduate and move on into whatever career aspirations they have.

Surprising Fact

I used to be a DJ in Saginaw, Michigan for all of the local parties and gatherings at the age of 12. I was still in middle school at the time. I was also a percussionist in my high school band.

Superpower

I would want to be able to remove hate from the world. I think is hate is taught. There is a quote by Nelson Mandela that I really like. “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Next Goal

I love working in higher education. The next big thing for me would be to consistently grow in the field. The ultimate goal is to be a president at an institution whether that be a community college or a four year public or private school. I look at it like you're playing sports. Lebron James didn’t start playing basketball to not go to the NBA. When he got to the NBA, he didn’t not play to get endorsements, sponsors or to not win the championship. To me in higher education, the ultimate championship in my role is to be a president. Always strive for something higher.
