Service Description

Service Name: NetID 
Service Name Synonyms: Authentication Services, Netid.emich.edu (formerly known as My.emich ID), Central Authentication Service (CAS), Single Sign-On (SSO).
Description: NetID is the username (and associated password) used to authenticate to most EMU computing systems including, but not limited to, EagleMail, Google Apps for Education, My.emich and the wireless network.
Availability: 24/7/365, except planned maintenance windows.

Eligibility falls into several classes as defined in "Attachment A" of IT Policy 4.8 titled "System Accounts". Generally speaking:

  • Current faculty and employees are eligible for access and accounts are automatically created upon hire (when the hire is processed in Banner).
  • Students who are eligible to register for courses at EMU are eligible for access and accounts are automatically created upon admission.
  • Emeriti faculty and employee retirees are eligible for access.

  • Employees must change passwords at least once every 180 days.
  • Students are encouraged to change their password every 180 days.
  • Accounts that become compromised are locked and a password change is forced.

Use NetID credentials to access common EMU systems such as My.emich, EagleMail, Google Apps for Education and the wired and wireless network.


Central Authentication Services (CAS) enabled systems provide single-sign-on (SSO) to other CAS enabled systems.


Non-CAS systems require separate login using NetID credentials.

To manage your account, set an alternate e-mail address (for forgotten passwords) or to change your password, log in at https://account.emich.edu.
