Service Name: Xtender Document Imaging
Service Name Synonyms: Xtender, WebXtender, AppXtender, BDMS
Description: Xtender Document imaging is a Banner peripheral system that is used to store images of business documents such as Admissions Applications or Financial Aid forms.
Availability: 24/7/365, except planned maintenance windows.

Access to Xtender Document Imaging is granted to employees, only as required to perform specific job duties. 


Access to Xtender is limited and based upon role.


Xtender is only available on the administrative network. Users must use the EMU Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access Xtender from the wireless network or from off-campus.

Support: Support is available through the IT Help Desk at 734-487-2120 or it.helpdesk@emich.edu . Support is provided during the service hours of the IT Help Desk. 
Features and Options:
  • Scanning - Use the Image Capture software to scan documents into ApplicationXtender.
  • Indexing - Use the Document Manager software to organize (index) documents for searching in ApplicationXtender. 
  • Viewing/Printing - Use AppXtender for the Web to view/print scanned and indexed documents that are stored in ApplicationXtender.

All access to the system is reviewed and approved by the Functional Security Representative for each respective application and implemented by IT staff.

Costs and Limitations: DoIT does not charge departments or individuals for normal usage.
