Reducing an EagleMail Mailbox Folder Hierarchy

Google Mail uses labels and sub-labels to organize email rather than folders. Visually, however, the structure of your email will remain the same.

During the transition process, label names will be drived from your EagleMail folder hierarchy. For example, if you have a Projects folder located within the Work folder, the label name will be Work/Projects in Google Mail. You can reduce your EagleMail mailbox folder hierarchy prior to migration by moving and deleting folders.

Note:  Label names exceeding 255 characters will be truncated.

Move Folders

You can reduce your EagleMail mailbox folder hierarchy by moving folders that exceed a depth of more than 5 levels into a folder that is less than 5 levels deep.

Follow these directions to move a folder into another EagleMail mail folder:

  1. From the Overview pane, click on a folder to select it.
    Move Messages
  2. Drag and drop the selected folder onto the destination folder in the Overview pane.
Note: The folder will have a green border around it indicating you can release the mouse.
  3. Once you let go of the mouse button, the selected folder will be moved into the destination folder.
    Move Messages
Note: Repeat these steps until all the necessary folders are moved.

Delete Folders

Another way to reduce your EagleMail folder hierarchy is to delete any folders that are no longer needed.

Note: We recommend that you move any desired email messages out of folders prior to deleting them, since any messages in the folder will also be deleted. You can move messages from one EagleMail folder to another by dragging and dropping, by clicking the Move button on the toolbar, or by right-clicking the message and choosing Move from the menu. Additionally, you can move more than one message at a time by checking each message from the Move column or selecting all messages by clicking the Move column checkbox.

Follow these directions to delete folder(s) from your mailbox:

  1. From the EagleMail Mail tab, locate a folder you want to delete.
  2. Drag and drop the folder on the Trash folder.
Note: The folder will have a green border around it indicating you can release the mouse.
