Preparing for the Transition

Preparation

Google Mail enforces a maximum individual message size of 25MB. Before I.T. migrates your email to Google Apps, you may want to download large file attachments and delete email messages that you no longer need. We recommend that you completing the following steps to prepare for the transition from EagleMail to Google Mail:


Zimbra Data Exports

You are responsible for exporting your EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase and importing them into your Google Calendar, Contacts, and Drive, respectively.

Follow these directions to export your EagleMail data and import it into Google Apps:


Calendar, Contacts, and Briefcase Migration (Within 30 days of Google Apps account creation)

You are responsible for exporting your EagleMail calendar, contacts, and briefcase and importing them into your Google Calendar, Contacts, and Drive, respectively.

Follow these directions to import your EagleMail Calendar, Contacts and Briefcase into Google Apps:


Mobile Devices

When your account transitions to Google Apps, your mobile device(s) will no longer sync with your Zimbra email, calendar or contacts. See the Mobile device setup section in the Google Apps Learning Center for instructions on adding your EMU Google Apps account to your device(s).

Note: When setting up your EMU Google Apps account on a mobile device, you will be asked to enter your complete email address (jdoe@emich.edu) rather than just your NetID.

Limitations

There are some limitations to the data that can be imported into Google Apps. Check the Limitations section of the Transition Guide for complete information.
