Return to Research 101 @ EMU Home Page

Research 101 was developed at the University of Washington Libraries by the uwill team, and has been altered for use at Eastern Michigan University as Research 101 @ EMU by Suzanne Gray, Information Literacy Librarian.

Contributors to the content on the following pages are gratefully acknowledged by the uwill team.

Animations and Flash files are the work of Jill Yetman except the Internet animation in "The Basics" and the searching exercise in the Expanded Academic Index, which are the work of Zach Hooker, and the brainmapping movie which is the work of Devang Patel.

William Badke, Trinity Western University, Langley, BC, provided the pithy measurement of background information (" ... talk for at least 1 minute without repeating yourself.") in "Information Cycles."

Much of the material in "Evaluating Your Search Strategy" was developed by Susan Kane.

Thanks for support and context to the UW Libraries Information Literacy Steering Committee: Anne Zald (Chair), Susan Clark, Terry Jankowski, Suzanne Klinger, Sarah Leadley, Theresa Mudrock, Brenda Philip, Deborah Pierce, and Linda Whang.

Research 101 has recently been a featured site in:

  • The British Columbia Ministry of Education
  • the Librarians' Index to the Internet
  • The Web's-Eye View "Bag of URLs" from the Maricopa Center for Learning & Instruction,
  • SiteLines, written by librarian Rita Vine, a web search trainer, and lead site evaluator of the Search Portfolio web search product, who monitors over 50 key alerting services related to web search tools, site announcements, and the business of web search. SiteLines is intended to present a distillation of the most important trends, news, and new web search tools and directories;
