Calculations and Descriptions

After calculating the district financial profile score, each score is then assigned one of four Financial Profile Designations (Illinois State Board of Education, n.d.). Table 2 describes these designations.

For each of the 34 districts in question, the three-year weighted financial profile scores were averaged to yield an average profile score and average profile designation, which was reported in the summary spreadsheet. When completing this calculation in a spreadsheet software using the formula =IF(AND(3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score>=3.54, 3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score<4), "Financial Recognition" ,IF(AND(3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score>=3.08, 3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score<=3.53),"Financial Review", IF(AND(3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score>=2.62, 3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score<=3.07),"Financial Early Warning", IF(AND(3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score>1, 3 year Averaged Weighted Financial Profile Score<=2.61),"Financial Watch")))), the formula yielded a result of “FALSE” if the average score fell in between any of the scores (i.e. an average score of 2.615 did not fit into the “Financial Watch” nor the “Financial Early Warning” designation). In situations like this, it would be necessary to rewrite the formula to include more sensitive ranges.
