I chose to pursue a credential as a Certified Nonprofit Professional to understand the field of nonprofit organizations. As a paraprofessional in education, it is very crucial to understand the ins and outs of the society in which most nonprofit entities serve communities. Working for a nonprofit educational organization is nothing short of amazing. Every day, I help high school seniors make their transition into post-secondary education. College access is a struggle in the United States today, and I enjoy being able to help alleviate that issue.
My favorite part of being in NLA was attending AMI Conference in Utah in 2015. It was a great experience traveling to that beautiful state and networking with other students and professionals. Understanding the power of networking is essential. A good outlook on entering the professional field is as follows: It’s a combination of what you know AND who you know.
NLA was a wonderful experience and allowed me to explore off-campus in ways I would not have been able to otherwise. I highly recommend this program for individuals willing to work hard and serve their surrounding communities.
What key points should anyone considering a career in the nonprofit field know?
