In 2017, the NLA, in partnership with NEW: Solutions for Nonprofits, is piloting a Nonprofit Board Training program for EMU students, faculty, and staff. The goal of this program is to create a more knowledgeable pipeline of diverse candidates to serve on regional nonprofit boards. A more diverse work and volunteer force will expand the capacity for strategic thought for our local nonprofit sector and create a deeper understanding of community needs.
This program will shape the Ypsilanti community through engagement with the area’s nonprofit sector. 23 EMU students, faculty, and staff members have been chosen in the first cohort, and they will be joining local nonprofit boards as non-voting members in the Fall of 2017. For more information, or if you would like to have a cohort member serve on your board, please contact Susan Badger Booth at firstname.lastname@example.org.
