Orientation
Congratulations on your admission to Eastern Michigan University. We recognize that beginning school in an unfamiliar community has its challenges, especially in a culture different from your own. That is why we offer a mandatory UNITED International Student Orientation as one of the first steps to help you transition to your life at EMU.
UNITED International Student Orientation is an important start for all new international students. Details regarding the Orientation will be sent via emich.edu email. Remember to check your emich.edu email regularly for updates from the OISS!
UNITED International Student Orientation is designed to give you information in the following areas:
- SEVIS registration
- Campus resources
- Immigration
- U.S. culture
- Campus safety
- Health insurance and health care (New Student Insurance Information)
- Employment
- Academic success
Transfer students and Change of Status students must also attend orientation. As a reminder, orientation is required for all new international students on an F-1/J-1 visa.
