Our programs recognize the myriad responsibilities today’s educators carry and therefore structure courses to balance the demands of leadership preparation with the needs of working professionals. Asynchronous courses allow candidates to build their education into their own schedules, and our emphasis on applied learning in the field enables candidates to leverage their existing environment in mutually beneficial ways.
Our internship accommodates candidates’ current professional responsibilities while ensuring rigorous preparation by collaboratively developing an internship program with a self-selected site mentor at their home school. This internship arrangement enables candidates to earn their advanced degree and credential without impacting their current professional standing. Moreover, candidates who hope to secure an administrative position within their current district learn the ins and outs of leadership in their specific context, so that they are prepared to lead on day one.
Our program recognizes the need for an affordable education. That’s why we keep our tuition as low as 60% of our in-state peers. Our reduced tuition enables candidates to matriculate through courses without incurring significant debt. Students in the Master’s program taking at least four credit hours per semester are eligible for federal financial aid.
Eastern Michigan University offers a variety of graduate education programs and a post-master’s certificate online. Check out our other online education programs.

As part of their academic obligations, students may be required to participate in in-person clinical or internships near their residences or attend an on-campus program on one or two weekends during a semester.
