The C&I Master's Program is designed to grow an individual's capacity to be a transformational educational leader with a deeper understanding of curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners. The focus of the program includes designing and evaluation leading edge inquiry-based and culturally relevant curricula and a deeper exploration into current theories and issues and how they impact instruction and curriculum. This reading concentration allows for a focus on reading methods in content areas and addressing struggling readers.
You will also develop knowledge about educational policies and instructional approaches which foster literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and visually representing) for English language learners. You will learn to create culturally responsive classrooms with learning environments where all students feel safe, affirmed and nurtured.
Curriculum includes an understanding of how to plan for technology-enhanced student-centered learning in the classroom. You will broaden your knowledge of curricular options, teaching models and instructional strategies for the 21st century learner. As an added benefit, you will participate in a field experience that offers a real-life comparison of methods and strategies of technology integration.
EMU students are nurtured and supported by our faculty. Plus, EMU graduates have a large network of educators and administrators across the U.S. with whom to network. The program is aligned with the rigor of similar National Board programs.
