What's next?

Winter New Student Orientation takes place on Saturday, December 12th and begins with check-in at 8:00 a.m. outside the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of McKenny Hall. The program runs until 12 p.m. with an optional lunch until 2 p.m.

Students starting classes in Fall 2016

New Student Orientation is a two-part program designed to introduce incoming freshmen to life at EMU and take care of the business of starting your EMU career. Orientation begins in the spring with a one-day Fast Track session and continues in September with First Four, your four day welcome week/campus acclimation process, which starts with move-in day and concludes with the start of classes. If you have been admitted to EMU as a freshman, you will receive registration information by mail. Registering for Orientation is the official way to notify us that you've decided to attend Eastern!

Registration for Fast Track will open in mid-January.

Am I required to attend both Fast Track and First Four?

Yes. Attending both Fast Track and First Four is vital to ensuring your successful transition to EMU! Note: if you live outside of the mid-west United States and are unable to attend Fast Track in person, please complete the online registration form and you will receive alternative instructions for academic advising and fall course registration.

Should parents/family attend?

Yes! Our family programs provide valuable information regarding financial, business, academic and community support resources, as well as guidance to help prepare for the transition to college, including changing relationships, family expectations, and student development during the college years. A maximum of two parent or family members may attend Fast Track (no children please), up to four guests may attend the first day of First Four.

What do I need to bring to Fast Track Orientation?
  • Your My.emich username and password.
  • A state issued ID (driver's license, state ID, passport). **If you do not have a state issued ID, please bring your high school student ID (it must have your photo on it.)**
  • Any financial aid award and scholarship paperwork that you have received from EMU. (Financial aid staff will be at Fast Track and First Four to answer your questions.)
  • Copies of Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test scores and/or grades from completed dual enrollment or post secondary college credit courses.
  • Foreign Language placement test results if applicable.
  • Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, including good walking shoes.
