2018 EMU United Way Campaign

January 22, 2018

To all employees:

I am pleased that Eastern Michigan University is once again partnering with the United Way of Washtenaw County to support our local community. This year's campaign theme, "The 'U' in United Way," reflects the important role the United Way plays in supporting the Ypsilanti area. Countless local agencies — including Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels, Corner Health, and the Child Care Network — partner with the United Way to provide vital services to local residents, many of whom are members of the Eastern community.

Please join me in supporting our local United Way. There are a variety of ways to donate, including payroll deduction (for full-time employees), check, or credit card. Every dollar counts. As an illustration, your donation of just $10 per pay period provides vital academically-focused after-school programming for at-risk students.

This year's campaign runs until March 1, 2018, and our goal is 50% employee participation. Incentives are available for the first employees to donate, and for areas with the highest employee participation rates. Dozens of dedicated employees from across the University have generously volunteered their time to serve as "Area Captains" for offices, departments and divisions. You will be contacted soon with additional information.

Thank you for your commitment to Eastern and to our region!

Sincerely,

Jim Smith
