The Department of Public Safety (DPS) at Eastern Michigan University is divided into three units consisting of the EMU Police Department, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and the Risk and Emergency Management OfficeEach unit provides the tools and information to ensure that our campus remains a secure and vibrant place to work and learn. When we work together, our campus and the surrounding areas are a thriving, inclusive university environment.

As highly trained sworn officers, EMU police are empowered to investigate, arrest, or take other necessary action to address any criminal or civil infraction. EMU officers work closely with local and state agencies.

Environmental Health & Safety

The University must be a good steward of the environment and public health. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assists the campus community in complying with safety, health and environmental regulations.
