Logistics (formerly Shipping, Receiving and Mail Services)
Providing world class service to the campus community in all of our tasks and duties.
The Mail Services office is located 1215 N Huron River Dr. and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. excluding University holidays. You can reach Mail Services at 734.487.4386.
Inbound mail is delivered and outbound mail is picked up at designated campus department locations.
USPS mail drop boxes on campus are located at:
- Cornell Court Apartments — The corner of Cornell Court and Cornell Rd. across from the Fletcher Building main entrance. Serviced by the USPS, pick up times are posted on the box.
- Student Center - Just inside the North Entrance on the backside of Starbucks. Serviced by EMU Mail Services, pickups daily Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. excluding University holidays.
Mailing costs are predicated on dimensions and weight. The bigger and heavier the item, the more it will cost to ship and or mail.
Standard letter size is:
- Minimum: 3 1/2" x 5" x < 1/4" thick
- Maximum: 6 1/8" x 11 1/2'' < 1/4" thick
Any time the size of your mail piece is larger than 6 1/8 inches by 11 1/2 inches and more than 1/4" thick, the letter becomes a flat and the cost to mail will double vs. standard letter size.
The Mail Services office has negotiated "presort" rates on outbound mail. The base discount is 5 cents on letters and 15 cents on flats. To qualify for the maximum presort rate, your mail pieces need to have a typed outbound address and have the bottom right hand corner of the envelope free from any printing or markings.
All eligible mail is pushed into the presort stream. Presort mail moves cheaper and is generally faster than unsorted first class mail.
Please call Mail Services when you are planning your next mailing. We can provide guidance and counseling that can help you save money.
If there are any problems questions or issues with your on campus mail services please call Mail Services at 734.487.4386.
