Jenita M. Moore was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in December of 2024 to an eight-year term that will expire in December 2032.
Moore came to Eastern Michigan University in 1989 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Law and Government in 1993. She later earned a Master of Public Administration with a concentration of Public Management degree at Western Michigan University in 2004.
As a passionate alumna, Moore is a dedicated ambassador for Eastern Michigan University (EMU). She has served as a former member of the EMU Alumni Association and held the roles of Parliamentarian and Board Secretary. Her continued commitment to EMU demonstrates her strong connection to the university and its alumni community.
In her professional life, Moore currently serves as Deputy Director with the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) and Director of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships. Moore’s career also includes expertise in state legislative policy making, government relations, and state agency administration.
As a prominent figure in her community, Moore is a proud member of organizations such as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Higher Heights for America, and the NAACP Detroit Chapter. In recognition of her leadership and community service, she was named a Michigan Chronical Women of Excellence honoree in 2023.
Regent Moore currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Educational Policies Committee, Vice Chair of the Student Affairs Committee, and a member of the Audit Committee.
