Export Controls and Embargos
Export Controls are laws regarding the sending or transfer of items, services, and technology outside of the United States or to foreign nationals. These laws may apply in the following situations:
- Sending certain items, information or software to a foreign country
- Sharing certain items, information or software with foreign nationals in the United States
- Traveling to or collaborating with overseas colleagues
- Taking computers or other electronic devices to foreign countries
The above activities might require obtaining a license from the government. A more detailed explanation of Export Control laws can be found on the Summary page in the left menu.
