EMU Research

Center Stage 8-31-15

Aaron Howard

Eastern Michigan University would like to recognize and thank Aaron Howard for representing EMU at the 2015 Students@MBS program.   This on-site program provides an opportunity for college students interested in the automotive industry to experience present-day issues driving the industry.  The event is an industry premier event hosted by the Center for Automotive Research (CAR).  The Management Briefing Seminar has marked its 50th Anniversary this year, and celebrated its fifth year of the Students@MBS program.

The event is held at the Grand Traverse Resort in beautiful Travers City Michigan.  Topics this year included:  global manufacturing strategies, materials, connected and automated vehicles, forecasting, advanced powertrain, purchasing, global investment strategy, and designing for technology.  Students attending are provided full-conference registration, lodging and meals.

See what Aaron had to say about the event:

"The four day seminar hosted speakers from manufacturers such as Ford, VW, Audi, BMW, GM, FCA, and Toyota. Suppliers Altair Continental, AK Steel and Alcoa. The briefings also provided contrast with guests from the EPA, CARB and even Michigan's Governor - Rick Snyder. The information provided at the briefings largely related to the future of the automotive industry as the CAFE standards continually become more stringent. Significant focus was also given to the 'electrification' and 'hybridization' of the industry as manufacturers strive to improve the efficiency of the automobile.  The briefings offer insight into the current trends of the industry while also bringing the future into the forefront. The social hours after the seminar highlight each day by creating an atmosphere to foster new connections.   The level of exposure that an attendee has available to network is arguably as valuable as the briefings.  The CAR Management Briefing Seminar is a must-do for anyone involved in the automotive industry and a fortuitous experience for a student attendee."

The 2015 Car Management Briefing Seminar ran from August 3-6 and is an annual event.  For more details on future events visit:  http://www.cargroup.org/
