Dr. Russell Olwell, professor of history, the director of EMU's Institute for the Study of Children Families and Communities, and a highly successful grant-getter has great advice for faculty trying to fund their research and other sponsored activity.

In his recently piece published in Inside Higher Ed, "Reach Out to Your Program Officer: To call or not to call?" Dr. Olwell outlines some of the very important reasons to call program officers before preparing a grant application and provides some basic questions that potential applicants might ask.
