Professor Russ Olwell, director of EMU's Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Communication, and his team are working with residents to set and meet goals that will improve their lives on different fronts in what is officially called the Strong Families Fund. A first-of-its kind program established in Ypsilanti and funded by several national philanthropic organizations, the fund aims to answer pressing questions of health and wellness; education; and economic while improving life for residents in the Ypsilanti Housing Commission's public housing.
