Masters of Arts in Sociology

Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Philosophy, Ohio Wesleyan University, 2010

After majoring in sociology and philosophy at Ohio Wesleyan University, Allison spent some time working in applied sociology as an Americorps VISTA for an organization that connects high school aged youth to volunteer opportunities and encourages community involvement, and then as an Americorps State member, organizing volunteer groups at a large urban foodbank. These efforts encouraged her to return to the classroom to once again pursue an academic analysis of the social world. She hopes to construct a qualitative thesis exploring the ways in which losing a parent of the same sex at a young age impacts gender identity formation. Allison enjoys listening to and collecting records, being outside, and learning new things.
