Gary Bell has been with EMU’s Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology since 2010, teaching courses in The Urban Community, Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, and Social Change. As Executive Director of SOS Community Services from 2000 to 2010, he helped to provide housing and services to parents and children experiencing homelessness. Prior to that, Gary taught sociology in Wisconsin while completing his doctorate and also served as an ordained minister in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio. He and his wife, Barbara, spend a good part of their summers on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan.
