Dr. Voght is a tenured, full professor of Spanish at Eastern Michigan University, where he has taught (1971-1983, 2000-2009) and held various administrative positions (1983-2000) for over thirty-seven years. Although trained in Golden Age Spanish literature, he has devoted most of his professional energies to promoting the development of interdisciplinary programs in World languages and international business. The author of several books and numerous articles in this field, he is most well known for the annual EMU conference on languages for world business, which he created and chaired or co-chaired for eighteen years (1982-2000).
Since returning to full-time teaching in the fall of 2000, Dr. Voght has focused his research on the life, times and works of the seventeenth-century Spanish author Pedro Calderón de la Barca. He is currently writing a biography of this famous playwright who served as court dramatist for Philip IV for over 40 years. His research in this area has also produced material for several articles that Dr. Voght intends to submit for publication in professional journals.
