German

Knowing German means more opportunities, especially for your career. German is the most widely spoken native language in Europe. More than 2,000 major American firms do business in German-speaking countries. Over 1,100 German companies do business in the U.S. with more than 200 of those German-based firms operating in Michigan alone.

Knowledge of the language can also translate to a higher salary in the U.S. and even higher in Europe. German is also the language of inventors and innovators. Four of the world’s most innovative companies are located in Germany. The possibilities stateside and abroad are endless when you add German to your resume.
