Biography

Selyna is a scholar-practitioner that has 10 years of experience working in Student Affairs in Residence Life, K-12 STEM outreach, the College Assistance Migrant Program, and academic advising. Before she entered her PhD program, she was coordinating academic advising at Cal Poly Pomona through the Provost’s office. During her PhD program she was active as a leader in her department and in AERA. Following her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the WEI Lab at the University of Wisconsin, Madison where she conducted research on the Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES Aspire Alliance whose focus is to broaden participation in STEM through faculty hiring and professional development focused on inclusive practices. In her spare time, she likes to sneak in a run, sing a tune in her car, listen to NPR, and spend time with her husband, three kids, and miniature schnauzer.
