Classroom Technology Upgrades

An ongoing replacement plan will standardize classroom technology thanks to efforts by the Provost's Office and recommendations from the Education Environment and Facilities Committee and the Academic I.T. Advisory Committee.

 

This summer a number of classrooms will have the new technology installed and more classrooms will be upgraded each summer.

Technology improvements include:

 

• Large screen video displays
• BluRay/DVD players
• Document cameras capable of displaying BW and color documents, transparencies, and 3D objects
• Connections for laptop computers and other portable devices
• In ceiling speakers
• Windows-based thin client computers
• touch screen selection panels

In room 109B in the Halle Library Faculty members can receive training and test the equipment.  To schedule training, contact the FDC office at 734.487.2530 or aavp_fdc@emich.edu.  Support for the new technology installed in classrooms will be only a phone call away.  In the future Help Desk staff will be able to monitor equipment remotely and possibly correct problems while still on the phone.  If a site visit is needed, a technician will be dispatched.

 

Room 217 in Halle Library has also been equipped with the new technology and faculty can reserve the room for their classes by contacting Library Administration at 734.487.2564.

 

Beta Classroom Tech Equipment Tour

Join Dr. Michael McVey from Teacher Education as he gives a tour of the technology equipment available in the new beta classroom (217 Halle).  Faculty feedback is vital as we finish specifications on what equipment to order for the first rooms scheduled to be upgraded this summer.  Feedback forms are available in the alpha room (109B Halle-Faculty Development Center) and beta room (217 Halle).  Feedback is also welcome via an email to Bill Shell (wshell@emich.edu).
