The Eastern Michigan University Forensics team has once again showcased its expertise, securing third place in the National Championship Tournament of the National Forensics Association. This achievement marks EMU's 51st consecutive year of participation in the tournament, underscoring its enduring commitment to excellence in competitive forensics.
EMU Forensics sent 18 students who participated in more than 50 performances in the national competition.
The first class to graduate from the Normal school included Helen Norris, John M.B. Sill, and Alizina Morton in 1854.
The College of Arts and Sciences was established in 1959. Albert W. Brown was the first dean.
Sheryl James (Class of 1973) won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing (1992).
