Applying to Upward Bound

***Winter 2015:  Upward Bound is currently recruiting for 9th and 10th graders!***

Applications are accepted at two times each year. In April, we recruit students in the eighth grade from Ypsilanti Community Middle Schools for participation the following school year as high school freshmen. Upward Bound representatives visit each middle school in spring to provide information about the program. Applications are available in the school counseling office.

We also recruit students in the ninth and tenth grades from Ypsilanti Community Schools and Ypsilanti New Tech High School. EMU Upward Bound representatives visit each high school in September to provide information about the program. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be completed and returned to the Upward Bound Office or to the high school counseling office by the first Monday in October.

To be eligible for Upward Bound, students must Be in the 9th or 10th grade at Ypsilanti Community or Ypsilanti New Tech High Schools. Come from a home where the parent(s) income meets the income criteria defined by the U.S. Department of Education OR where the parent with whom the student lives has not completed a four-year college degree.  Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Demonstrate academic potential and a desire to do their best in high school and attend college. Be a US citizen or have intentions to become a permanent resident.
