Student Impact: Gwen Deiter
“Eastern Michigan University is one of the few universities in the country that offered my degree,” Gwen Deiter, class of 2022, shared. “Without scholarship support from donors, my college experience wouldn’t be possible.”
Gwen is a senior in the Arts & Entertainment Management program here at Eastern Michigan. She explained that her college experience wouldn’t be possible without the support of donors that Give Rise.
“Receiving scholarship support was a huge financial incentive for me and my family. It allowed me to attend a four-year university immediately following high school.”
As soon as Gwen stepped on campus, she knew that opportunity awaited her here at EMU. In her three years at Eastern, Gwen has been actively involved in the EMU theatre program as both a student and employee. She serves as the Supervising Stage Manager where she gains real-world experience managing the Legacy Theatre in the Judy Sturgis Hill Building. Thanks to the support of donors, Gwen is entering her final year at EMU and is focusing on internships and post-graduation plans.
“Your contribution to the Give Rise campaign allows students to rise above. To rise above the challenges they entered Eastern with and to leave with a success story like no other,” Gwen said. “Success looks different to all of us. To me, it means pursuing the arts professionally. To others, success means being the first to receive a college education in their family. It may mean the ability to take over a family business or start one of their own. Give Rise allows us to become the individuals we've aspired to be.”
