Staff Spotlight: Aric Bird
Give us a brief overview of yourself and your job title:
Hello everyone! My name is Aric Bird and I am a 2020 graduate of Eastern Michigan University. During my time at EMU, I studied Public Relations in the School of Communication and Theatre Arts along with being a member of the EMU Forensics Team. Just recently, I have accepted this role with EMU Foundation as the Marketing & Communication Manager where I coordinate all marketing and communication efforts for the organization. I am honored to be on this team and I look forward to working alongside you all and an institution that has given so much to me!
How has your work/life changed now that you are starting a new job remotely:
I graduated from college in the spring of 2020 where COVID-19 swept life to the screen. For myself, I have been working remotely since I graduated so the transition of starting a new role remotely has been familiar to me. But a huge aspect/opportunity that has changed since starting this role is I have an office and being able to have a space to work remotely has been helpful.
What is your favorite part about your job:
My favorite part about my job is the people I work with! Everyone has been great to work with and is so TALENTED! An old mentor of mine once told me to surround myself with talented people and LEARN from them. EMU Foundation is giving me the opportunity to do just that and I am grateful.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A fun fact about me is that I love the game of golf! I try to reward myself with a round of golf every Friday evening after my work schedule. There is nothing quite like a round of golf, especially if you’re hitting them straight!
