American Heart Association and EMU: We’re looking for leaders by April 1 - March 23, 2022

EMU faculty and staff:

At Eastern Michigan University, nothing unites us like doing good together. That’s why we are supporting the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association (AHA) through its 2022 Washtenaw County Heart Walk, which will be held here on Eastern’s campus at Rynearson Stadium on Saturday, May 14.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team for the Walk, I would like to personally invite you to be a coach this year.  We are looking for coaches who are leaders to recruit and lead walkers on Heart Walk day.

Heart disease and stroke affect 1 in 3 adults – including a large number of people in our community and at our University.

Will you be one of our leaders for this effort?

As a Heart Walk coach, you will lead a team of co-workers to spread the word and raise money for life saving research. You don’t have to spend a lot of time to make a difference. The work can be done in just a few minutes each week.

Are you in? Will you accept the challenge of being a Coach? Reply to this email message indicating, “I am in!” and please cc Sarah Spitzley at [email protected].

The AHA City-Wide Rally Day is Wednesday, April 6. Rally Day is a fun way to jump start our walker recruitment effort alongside other supporting organizations in our community. More information will be coming your way about this important date.

This year’s Heart Walk walk begins at 9 a.m. on May 14. There will be an in-person option or walkers can choose their own paths while still connecting with our team. Additional details will be provided as we get closer to the event date.

We walk for family, we walk for our campus, we walk for our community and most of all, we walk to save lives!

Thank you for considering this request!

Best regards,

James Smith, Ph.D.
