Washtenaw County Heart and Stroke Walk, May 5 - March 6, 2024

Eastern Michigan University employees,

It’s time to gear up for the American Heart Association (AHA) annual Washtenaw County Heart and Stroke Walk, taking place on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Washtenaw Community College. The Heart and Stroke Walk is AHA's premier event raising funds to save lives from the country's number 1 and number 5 killers - heart disease and stroke.

This year marks AHA’s 100th anniversary, making the 2024 event even more of a celebration!

Why support the Heart and Stroke Walk?

Help fund lifesaving science. Since 1949, the American Heart Association has funded more than 800 research grants right here in Michigan, at local universities such as University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Michigan State University, and more, totaling over $100 million.

Unite around a cause you can get behind. For years, Eastern Michigan University has been a leading supporter of the Washtenaw County Heart and Stroke Walk.

This year, we have set a goal to raise $15,000, and you could be one of the Eastern Michigan Coaches that help us reach our goal! As a team coach, you’ll recruit and coordinate your own fundraising team for the event.

We invite you to gather colleagues, friends and family members to participate in this year’s Heart and Stroke Walk and become a healthier version of you while raising lifesaving funds for others!

How can I support the Heart and Stroke Walk? Create a team, join a team or make a donation.

Who do I contact if I have questions? Learn more about becoming a team coach and other Heart and Stroke Walk details by contacting AHA staff partner, Sydney Smith, at [email protected].

We hope you will join us in supporting the 2024 AHA Washtenaw County Heart and Stroke Walk and promoting the mission of the American Heart Association: building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Sincerely,
James Smith, Ph.D.
