**Update to EMU PD Timely Warning-Armed Robbery 2024-02**
The investigation conducted by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the Ypsilanti Police Department and the Eastern Michigan University Police Department has determined that the robbery/shooting that was reported to have occurred on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 5:30 a.m. was a false report and the incident did not take place. The report will be forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's office for potential charges.
EMU PD Timely Warning-Armed Robbery 2024-02
Advisory Date/Time: Reported on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at approximately 5:30 a.m.
Location of Incident: 500 block of N. Huron Dr., near the Keg Party Store-off campus
Nature of Incident: Armed Robbery-Shooting
Summary of Incident: The Ypsilanti Police Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that occurred near the Keg Party store on N. Huron Dr. It was reported that an Ypsilanti resident was walking on the sidewalk and was approached by a subject who demanded money. An altercation ensued with the victim being shot. The victim described the suspect as a black male wearing dark colored clothes and a blue colored hat. The suspect fled the area on a bicycle.

The investigation conducted by the Ypsilanti Police Department and Eastern Michigan University Police Department has determined that the robbery that was reported to have occurred on Thursday, April 25 at 11 p.m. was a false report and the incident did not take place. The report will be forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's office for potential charges.
EMU PD Timely Warning-Armed Robbery 2024-01
Advisory Date/Time: Reported on Thursday April 25th 2024 at approximately 11:00 pm.
Location of Incident: 1000 block of Huron River Dr., Eastern Plaza-off campus
Nature of Incident: Armed Robbery
Summary of Incident: The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a reported armed robbery of a student that occurred near an ATM in the Eastern Plaza shopping center. It was reported that a person dressed in a dark colored hoodie, gray pants wearing a mask produced a handgun while demanding money. The reporting party believes that the suspect is male. The victim sustained a minor injury. EMU PD is assisting YPD in the investigation.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 2023-04
Date of Incident: Saturday November 4, 2023 at approximately 2:30 pm
Location: Perrin St. near Cross St-City of Ypsilanti
Nature of Advisory: Shots Fired
Summary: The Ypsilanti Police Department, in coordination with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, is investigating a reported shooting at the above location. The victim, not affiliated with Eastern Michigan University, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The reported suspect fled the area in a dark colored SUV-style vehicle, possibly a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban. The suspect vehicle drove in a southern direction away from campus after the incident.

Timely Warning 2023-03: Sunday, October 15th, 2023.
Nature of Incident-Shots Fired
Location of Incident-400 Blk W Forest Ave near Ballard St., City of Ypsilanti
Summary: The Ypsilanti Police Department, along with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department, is investigating a report of shots fired in the 400 block of W Forest Ave. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a dark-colored Chrysler 300 4-door vehicle with the license plate in the rear window fired several shots from a handgun toward several homes. No reported injuries. The suspect vehicle fled the area east on Forest Ave.

The Ypsilanti Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the homicide.

Nature of Incident: Death Investigation
Location: Off-Campus -- 800 block of Green Rd., Arbor One Apartments, Ypsilanti
The Ypsilanti Police Department (YPD) is actively investigating a death that is believed to be a homicide at the above location. This incident was reported on Wednesday, July 5 at approximately midnight.
Preliminary information suggests that the victim was acquainted with the suspect and that this incident stemmed from an argument. The suspect was reported to have fled the area on foot.
Suspect Description: As reported by a witness -- Black male approximately 18-19 years old, dark complected skin, hair styled in twists, last seen fleeing the area with no shirt.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 2023-01
Nature of Incident: Strong Arm Robbery at approximately 10:53 pm, 3/8/2023
Location: Off-Campus 729 W Cross St, Ypsilanti, Mich. 48197 (D.P. Dough
restaurant)
The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a report of a strong arm robbery that occurred at the above location. The suspect walked into the restaurant and ordered items. When the clerk opened the register the subject reached over the counter and took an unknown amount of cash. The subject then left the business and fled southbound, behind the building away from campus.
Suspect Description: Black male, 20-30 years old, tall with an average to slim build, wearing a face covering (covid mask), dark colored Rick and Morty sweatshirt, and dark pants.
A suspect wearing a similar sweatshirt was involved in a strong arm robbery on the following dates and locations:
-2/25/23 at 533 W Cross St. (Gora’s Grill)
- 3/3/23 at 729 W Cross St. (D.P. Dough)
Additionally, there have been two other strong arm robberies in the area:
- 2/22/23 at 501 W Cross (Eagle’s Market)
- 3/8/23, at 219 Emmet St
