Jordan Young graduated in 1994 from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Physical Education. His top advice for students, “Make sure you have good interpersonal skills as people prefer individuals who can engage in any type of conversation, at or away from the office.”

Jordan loves everything golf and is currently the PGA – Director of Instruction at Fox Hills Learning Center in Plymouth, Michigan and the assistant coach for the EMU Golf Team. He came to EMU from Canada on an athletic scholarship. Jordan said, “It was pretty cool to be able to go to school and be an athlete. We competed against some of the best players and teams around the country.” He goes on to say that, “To be able to travel around the United States for four seasons was a special experience.”

As the assistant men’s golf coach, Jordan gets to spend part of the season with many fine young men. He mentioned, “Every year, it is sad to see our departing seniors leave, but exciting to see new student athletes begin college at Eastern.”

Jordan is proud of many things in his career, but his biggest career accomplishment occurred this past January in Orlando, Florida at the PGA Merchandise Show. He won the 2013 PGA Award for Player Development. He was chosen to be the sole winner of the award for the entire country and accepted the award on stage with Jimmy Roberts. This award is given to a PGA Professional for extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development.

Jordan remembers from his time at EMU when he would watch men’s basketball games with fellow student athletes at Bowen Field House. During this time the men’s basketball team ended up making two NCAA appearances and made it to the Sweet 16.

An extraordinary individual to Jordan was not a professor, but a former EMU regent, longtime administrator and an avid golfer. Roy Wilbanks, was recently honored for his dedication and service to Eastern Michigan in a ceremony on June 13, 2014 when the Eagle Crest Clubhouse was named in his honor. Jordan said, “I still see Roy frequently and he is still passionate about our (EMU) golf program, our student athletes and most importantly, the state of our University!”

Golf is not the only sport Jordan likes. “I am interested in all sports and enjoy coaching hockey. I would like to fish more but do love to travel abroad to play golf or for fun,” he said.
