Each year, the EMU alumni community hosts a variety of events that give you the opportunity to network with fellow alumni, grow your career, and stay connected with the EMU community.

Lights at the Toledo Zoo
Join fellow EMU alumni, friends, and families on the opening weekend of the "Lights at the Toledo Zoo."  The zoo is filled with over a million-holiday lights and displays! Our gathering will take place at the Malawi Event Center from 5:30pm-7:30pm and it is the perfect place to kick-off your evening before enjoying the zoo attractions and lights.  New this year: meet real-life penguins!

  • Wednesday, October 23, 2024 - A Discussion of the State of Democracy Expand dropdown

    Polarization, misinformation and political rhetoric has increased questions about the state of democracy and 2024 election cycle.  Come join us for an engaging discussion of the issues, state of the race and future of the country with Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and Republican State Representative Andrew Beeler.  The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein.  Attendees will have the opportunity to raise pertinent questions about the upcoming election. 

    Event time is 3:00-4:30pm in 124 Sill Hall. No pre-regsitration required.

  • Tuesday, October 29, 2024 - A Discussion with Leroy Clemons Expand dropdown
    The brutal murder of three young voting rights activists during Freedom Summer was a turning point in the Civil Rights Movements.  The nation’s quest for justice went unanswered for four decades.  Hear the story of their mission to ensure that every citizen gained access to the voting ballot and the successful effort of Mr. Leroy Clemons and others to bring their killer to justice, providing racial healing to a divided city.  Mr. Clemons will share first hand knowledge of the fight for justice and the importance of voting to the protection of civil rights.
     
    Event time is 5:00-7:00pm in 124 Sill Hall. No pre-regsitration required.
