Biography
Yael Rothfeld is a Part-Time Lecturer at the School of Music and Dance. She is also in her 22nd year of teaching Elementary General Music to Young 5s through 5th grade in the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree in Music Education from Michigan State University. She also holds Level 1 certifications from the Gordon Institute of Music Learning (GIML) in Early Childhood and Piano, and Level 1 and 2 certifications in Elementary General Music.
Yael Rothfeld has presented at conferences and workshops for music educators across the country. She is a past president of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning, and has served on the Michigan Music Education Board. In 2018, she received the DTE Energy Foundation Educator of the Year Award, In 2020 she was selected as the Michigan Music Education Association's Music Educator of the Year. In 2022, she was a semifinalist for the Music Educator Award for the GRAMMY Museum and Recording Academy.
